Postdoctoral opening in the Quantum Theory and Technology group
A position is open for a postdoctoral candidate with experience in the theoretical treatment of lightmatter
interaction at the quantum level, to join the Quantum Theory and Technology group at the
University of Southampton led by Simone De Liberato.
The Quantum Theory and Technology group (qtt.phys.soton.ac.uk) performs theoretical investigations
in solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics and more generally quantum technologies. We have
strong experimental links with a number of leading groups worldwide, operating across multiple
nanophotonic platforms. This allows us to have our theoretical proposals promptly implemented and
tested with state-of-the-art facilities.
The postdoctoral researcher will explore how the non-perturbative coupling to the vacuum fluctuations
of the electromagnetic field can be exploited to modify optical, chemical, and structural properties of
matter. An in-depth knowledge of the theory of light-matter coupling, as well as working experience
with one or more cavity quantum electrodynamics platforms is a minimal requirement for the position.
How to apply: applications will be considered on a rolling basis until filled. The position, funded by a
Leverhulme prize, is initially for 2 years, with possibility of further extensions. The candidate is ideally
scheduled to start in 2019. Interested candidates should send a complete CV and a motivation letter to
